Cantine De Luca
Melissa (Crotone) - Calabria
“ De Luca “ is a name telling a story made of passion, stubborness, of will of growth and achieving results, in a land which is steep and gentle at the same time.
The story starts in 1994, when a man named Abramo De Luca, lover of good wine and of his own “Melissian” land, begins vinification with the grapes of his own estates, rich of native vines, among which Gallioppo and Greco Bianco.
These vines are very ancient; their origin goes back to Greek landing to the southern coasts of Italy
during VIII century B.c. Abramo De Luca followed the historical wine making traditions connected with the ancient method of “ad alberello” growth of vines, a technique used by the ancient people of Brutium during III century B.c.
In Greek times wines of this area were appreciated so as to be offered as reward to the winners of the Olympic games.
Wine making started by Abramo is now followed by Vincenzo De Luca, a brilliant young man who, thanks to his gift as entrepreneur, carried out a great plan turning the strong passion of his family into an ambitious business program aimed at making a product of excellence, a point of reference in wine making of the region and a perfect marriage between tastes and culture of an ancient land.
Società Agricola La Bollina S.r.l.
Serravalle Scrivia (Alesandria) - Piemonte
La Bollina estate, headquarters of the agricultural company La Bollina, is situated inside a high-quality area strategically positioned between the plains and the nearby hills.
For centuries the residence of the Marques Figari of Genoa extends on a 120 hectares area, in a suggestive landscape of gentle scope, vineyards and chestnut woods.
Inside the estate, in addition to the cultivation and production of Cortese di Gavi wines, there are three distinctive entities that are complementary and interrelated based on their characteristics and offers.
Hotel Villa La Bollina, located in the former renovated Villa, offers 12 luxurious rooms housed in a context of great elegance and quality.
The tradition-innovation-development is a concept around which La Bollina rotates: producing a wine at levels of excellence already known and appreciated worldwide for its specific and unique qualities.
Cantina della Porta Rossa
Diano d'Alba - Piemonte
Porta Rossa winery occupies the premises of a former Napoleon's style palace built by order of Assic, captain of the French army. Inspired by the vast territory, its magnificent scenery and the wine-making characteristics of the zone, Assic decided to stay and construct the building that even today is recognised for its ancient Vermilion entrance door.
From then on, tradition has always gifted the place with culture and the names of renowned personalities: Colonel Giuseppe Castellazzo, of the royal House of Savoia, started rational vine growing and destined the palace to viticultural activities. King Vittorio Emanuele II, an expert in wine matters, an infallible hunter and an inveterate lover was an honourable visitor of the palace during many idle autumns in the Langhe Territory.
The tradition of commitment to this land has found a deserving heir in the current owner of the house, Enologist Pierfranco Bonaventura, who has worked in the winemaking field for several years. His expertise is paired by his wife’s passion for the winery. In fact, Luciana collaborates actively in publicity projects and in the pursuit of the winery goals. A legacy of tradition and wine-making devotion that converges at the work in the cellar and the respect of the objectives envisioned, i.e. putting the name of PORTA ROSSA next to that of the best world class wines.
Capitanata Agricola S.r.l. – Tenuta Coppadoro
San Severo (Foggia) - Puglia
In the vast Italian oenology, a new history comes to life in a territory which is little known in the wine world: Daunia. The challenge starts from one of the rare hills of the Tavoliere, “Coppadoro” hill, where two men decided to start the farm Tenuta Coppadoro. Ottavio and Pino are life-long friends; they share a “calling” for entrepreneurial activity and a passion for their land. Ottavio has cultivated it since he was a child, by tradition; Pino’s comes from his experience and passion.
It’s a young business, started in 1999, but grounded on earliest local studies and plans.
With the help of other childhood friends they realized their dream in 2001.
Their firm aims at becoming a leading group within a sector undergoing deep changes and offering new chances, in a context marked by strong national and international competition.
Tenuta Coppadoro intends to enhance its territory, based on quality. To achieve such an ambitious project it has equipped itself with high-technology instruments in all the company’s functions, adding value to the project, together with the oenological management by a famous representative of the sector, Prof. Riccardo Cotarella.
Currently, the activity is run by the sons of both entrepreneurs, together with a team of qualified and passionate young people, willing to convey to the market their enthusiasm for their territory, history and work. Livon
San Giovanni Al Natisone ( Udine) - Friuli
Azienda Livon moved its first steps in the early sixties, when Dorino Livon, founder of the winery, decided to purchase the first properties in the hills of the Collio, nowadays recognised as one of the best areas of Italy for producing quality wines. In the following years Dorino Livon step by step added new properties to the existing ones. Valneo and Tonino, Dorino’s sons entered the family business in the early eighties, at which time it was decided to diversify the wine production into two segments: the “Classic” line and the “Cru” line. The “classic” wines are designated to become significant also in terms of quantity and cover the middle and the high segments of the markets. The “Cru” wines are grown in single vineyards, with extreme low yield per vine and therefore they are of very limited production. Furthermore they are produced with special care in the vineyards and in the wine cellar.
Another strategic turning point took place in the ninties, when the Livon family decided to purchase three new wineries: Villa Chiopris in the Friuli Grave area, Tenuta RoncAlto, a further property in the Friulian Collio and Borgo Salcetino, a winery located in Tuscany, in the middle of the Chianti Classico region.
The purchase of the Friulian estates allows Livon to offer a complete selection of Friulian wines, also including ancient native grapes such as Ribolla Gialla, Picolit and many more. With the purchase of Borgo Salcetino, in Radda in Chianti, Livon’s intention is to increase their knowledge of red wine production and raise their reputation and image of renowned wine producer.
At the dawn of the new millenium, the Livon family decided to face a new challenge: Fattoria ColSanto, a marvellous property located in the Montefalco area in the region of Umbria. It has an extention of 20 hecaters, all covered with vines and includes a farmhouse dating back to the 1700’s.
